Upcoming littersThe English Setter had its origin in some of the older of the land spaniels with a history that traces back to the 14th century. The major credit for the development of the modern English Setter goes to two men on the middle 1900, Mr. Edward Laverack and Mr. R.L. Purcell Llewellin.

The English Setter is a very good family pet. He will be more than happy to spend time with his family and will be an ideal companion for kids. To this dog, love and affection are as necessary as food. The English Setter has a fondness for comfort and will appreciate his own chair or sofa. It is imperative to train a setter with a gentle, yet firm hand and consistency.

A true gentleman by nature, he has a kind and gentle expression and is constantly expressing a willingness to please with an affectionate, happy, and friendly attitude. He has a lovable, mild disposition and is without fear or viciousness. While he doesn't need an excessive amount of exercise, a fenced yard is recommended to avoid that its hunting instinct bring him away from home.

The English Setter is an elegant, stylish and symmetrical gun dog. The males are about 63 cm (25 in) at the withers and the bitches about 61 cm (24 in).
